Well here it is, my first blog post…ever! One of my good friends runs the blog Slice of Comfort. She told me she was bringing her blog back and that it would be fun if I started a blog as well. I thought it sounded like a great idea until I realized I have no clue what to write about! I decided to give it a try anyways, so bear with me!
I have been debating for the past few days what I should write my first post about. After a lot of thought I decided that I will talk about the "reading challenge" I am doing this year. My husband got me a kindle for christmas which was a total surprise! In high school I read all the time, especially during the summer. I would sit by the pool with my head in a book for hours. Once I start college and got married the book reading kind of stopped. Ever since I got my kindle I have been reading non stop and it feels good! I missed reading. I set my GoodReads goal to 24 books this year. That gives me 2 books every month. While it's half way through January and I've already read 2 books, I know it won't be that way every month so I decided to keep it reasonable. Some of you may have seen the 2015 Reading Challenge on Popsugar.com. It's been all over my pinterest feed these last few weeks! Even though it includes 50 books and I only plan to read 25 I decided to use it as a guide to pick out the books I read. This will help me find new books that I may have never thought of reading before. As I mentioned I have already completed 2 books on this list which are:

Bloody Mary - JA Konrath
I actually started this book at the end of December but since I finished it in January so I figured I would count it. A group of my friends are in a book club. I have been meaning to go yet something always seems to come up when they are meeting. A few months back they read the book Whiskey Sour by J.A. Konrath so I decided to read it hoping I could make it to their meeting. Unfortunately I couldn't go but I loved the book! As I kid I was a huge Nancy Drew fan. I starting reading the Nancy Drew Notebooks, which are Nancy's childhood series, at the age of 7 and then began reading the older ones as I got older. With that being said I guess you could say I'm always up for a good mystery. Anyways after reading Whiskey Sour I decided to read the second book in the series which is Bloody Mary (are you sensing a theme here?). Although I did enjoy the book I couldn't find myself getting into the way I did the first one. Then again I have a tendency to need to change things up when I read so maybe I shouldn't have read the books so close together. My overall consensus is it's a good book but I prefer Whiskey Sour. I started reading this book before I found the challenge so I went through the list to find the best fit I could for this book. There were a couple of options that could have worked but I decided on A Mystery or Thriller.
The Doctor's Fake Fiancee - Victoria James
What made me buy this book I am not quite sure. I was in the mood to read something short and seeing how it only had 185 pages I figured I could get through it pretty quickly. It wasn't a bad book but it wasn't my favorite by any means. It reminded of a cheesy romantic comedy. I actually was wondering if there had been one with a similar story because it felt vaguely familiar. Anyways the title pretty much sums up what the book is about and like I said it was very much romantic comedy so I'm assuming you can guess how it ended. All in all I gave it 3 out of 5 stars but I think I should have expected that going into the book. For this book I picked A book by an author you've never read before.
Now you may be wondering, "what is she reading now?" I decided I wanted to challenge myself a little for this 3rd book. As you can see by my last two picks I tend to choose easy reads that are usually around 200-300 pages. I went through the list and decided to pick A Pulitzer Prize-winning book. I went to a list of Pulitzer Prize-winning books on Amazon and starting looking down the list. I randomly clicked on The Orphan Master's Son and read the sample. As soon as I realized it was about North Korea I decided this was my next book. I enjoy watching documentaries in my free time and have watched quite a few about North Korea. I am fascinated by how much we really don't know about it. Although this book is fiction and written by an American I am still anxious to read it. I am only 17% of the way into the book and it has definitely been more of a challenge but I am enjoying the book so far.
2 books down and 22 to go!
