Definitely been way too long since I've posted anything. I was going to take a break from the blog challenge and start doing other things but then well to be completely honest I just kind of forgot. I plan on doing a March favorites sometime soon and more book updates.
Anyways I don't have much to say today but I thought I'd share something new i'm in love with! I had heard of Polyvore but never checked it out. I finally decided to just check it out and I love it! I've been having so much fun just messing around on there. I decided to try a sort of "look for less" type of thing. I would find pictures of celebrities and try to recreate the whole outfit with no single piece costing over $50. I've only done a few so far but I thought maybe I would continue doing it and post 1 every week. Here is my first one! Let me know what you think!
I decided to do a reading challenge this year. If you want to read about it you can check out my post from January here. Anyways I've done quite a bit of reading since then so I figured it was time for an update! Ok the first book I'm going to discuss is the Orphan Master's Son. I was reading this book when I made my last reading challenge post. I have mixed feelings about this book. I did enjoy the idea behind the book and the book overall but I did feel lost a few times. While I feel the author did go into detail I had trouble following. It was definitely a good book and I liked it but I have a feeling I missed out on a lot of the story. I would still recommend this book though because it is a good read and is different than anything else I've ever read. Sorry I don't have much to say about this book. The next book I read was Divergent. I am in love with this book! I first heard about this series when I saw the preview for the first movie a year or so ago, whenever it was it came out. I was not interested. It seemed like another movie aimed at teens that is set way in the future. While my husband and I were on vacation back in January it happened to be on TV. I saw part of it before I fell asleep and I was getting hooked. I knew finding a book that was 500+ pages to read was going to have to be something really good if I planned on finishing it. I was looking on my kindle for the next book to read and this popped up on sale. I had been thinking about it since I had just seen part of the movie and decided to download the sample. I was hooked from the beginning. Now I am dying to see the whole movie! I don't know if I want to read the other books. I am not into all the action/war stuff. I liked reading about choosing factions and things like that. Anyways I definitely recommend this to anyone that hasn't read it. I had been talking to my friend about how I love mysteries. She recommend I read something by Mary Higgins Clark. So as soon as I finished Divergent I started looking through her books to see what sounded good. There were tons to choose from but I decided on You Belong to Me. It's about a serial killer who kills women on cruises. I've never been on a cruise and honestly never planned on going one after hearing so many horror stories, and this probably didn't help. However all the women were alone on these cruises and no way would I ever go on a cruise alone so I guess I'm safe. Anyways! It was definitely good but started out pretty slow. What I liked was the author was definitely trying to narrow it down to a few people for you. I didn't even try to guess because I knew I would get it wrong. I definitely like this book and will probably read more of her books in the future. P.S. I could not stop singing Taylor Swift every time I read the title of the book! Last but not least is the book The Selection. I was in Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago and saw this book on display. To be honest I just thought the cover looked pretty. I noticed the cover said something about a competition with 35 girls. I decided as soon as I was done with You Belong to Me I would download this book. The best way to describe this book is Divergent/Hunger Games meets the Bachelor. I actually really enjoyed this book. There wasn't too much I didn't like. It is YA so it was easy to read which is always nice. The story was set in the future and the United States is now called Illea and the population is broken up into castes. The Selection is a competition hosted by the royal family to find the prince a wife. The only problem was it ended in a strange place. Which means I'm probably going to have to read the second book in the series to find out what happens next! Here is the list of what I've read so far and what I'm reading now! A classic romance A book that became a movie A book published this year A book with a number in the title A book written by someone under 30 A book with nonhuman characters A funny book A book by a female author A book with a one word title A book of short stories A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet: Southern Stories of Faith, Family, and Fifteen Pounds of Bacon//currently reading A book set in a different country Claudia, Wife of Pontius Pilate//currently reading A nonfiction book A popular authors first book A book from an author that you love that you haven't read yet A book based on a true story A book at the bottom of your to-read list A book your mom loves A book that scares you A book more than 100 years old A book you were supposed to read in school but didn't A memoir A book you can finish in a day A book with antonyms in the title A book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit A book that came out the year you were born A book with bad reviews A trilogy A book from your childhood A book with a love triangle A book set in the future A book set in high school A book with a color in the title A book that made you cry A book with magic A book you own but have never read A book that takes place in your hometown A book that was originally written in a different language A book set during Christmas A book written by an author with your same initials A play A banned book A book based on or turned into a TV show A book you started but never finished Before I jump into my favorites I want to let everyone know that I had every intention of blogging the last few days. However my computer had other ideas. The past few days my computer did not want to stay connected to our internet. My husband computer, our phones, and our tablets all connect fine but my computer would not! It would only stay connected for about 5 minutes (if that) before it would disconnect. With that being said, writing a blog just didn't seem feasible until I got it fixed. Thankfully after a trip to the Apple store and a few calls to our internet provider it works again!
I'm skipping the blog challenge today to post my February favorites! I had a hard time deciding what would be on my favorites this month. Last month the theme for my favorites was beauty products and I realized I haven't tried anything new this month. Also I want to go for a different theme for my favorites every month so I had to pick something different. I thought since it's winter or it's still winter in the midwest anyways, we tend to want to just relax inside where it's warm! That got my thinking about the topic I settled on for this month: Relaxation. 1. Criminal Minds- One great way to relax or at least one of my favorites is to turn on Netflix. This month I discovered Criminal Minds. I have heard of this show for years but for some reason never bothered to actually watch it. Well now I'm hooked! I'm still only on the first season but I love it so far. The whole idea of behavioral profiling is so interesting to me, which is probably why it makes sense that I am majoring in Psychology. 2. Divergent - Another thing I do to relax is read. This month I read the book Divergent and loved it! I really hesitated on reading this because I feel like it's just like everything else out there nowadays. However I happened to see part of the movie while on vacation in North Carolina last month and found myself getting into it. I won't say a whole lot more since I plan on doing a book review on it later on but I do recommend it! 3. Cutie Pie Cupcake - I love candles and scented things therefore I love all things Scentsy! I have so many bars that I usually forget what all I actually have. I started going through them a few weeks ago and found the scent Cutie Pie Cupcake. I have been loving it lately! It smells exactly like it sounds. It may not be considered the most "relaxing" scent as opposed to something like lavender but I think it smells amazing. Unfortunately it was a bring back my bar so it's not something you can order right now. 4. College T-shirt - Ok this one might seem weird but it's my favorites and this is one of my favorites! My husbands cousin plays college basketball and we were able to attend a few of his games this season. Two of the games we went to they were handing out free t-shirts at the door. Maybe I'm weird but I've been in love with those t-shirts. They are super comfortable and fit really nicely. I hate t-shirts that are so oversized that you are swimming in them but I also hate it when they are too tight. These fit me perfectly. I don't know about all of you but I love wearing t-shirts when I'm around the house. I figured since I have been wearing these so much this month and the fit into the category of relaxation I should include them! 5. White Cheddar Popcorn - One of my favorite things to do while relaxing is eating a snack. My go to snack recently has been white cheddar popcorn. I love this stuff! Also another good thing about SmartFood's popcorn is made from real ingredients. None of this hydrochloromonodyzyride stuff. I try to by natural and organic when I can so I like seeing food that isn't completely artificial. Well that's all I've got today! I will try to be back tomorrow with my post for the blog challenge! I realize it's been like 4 days since I've posted anything but I have a some what good reason for that. I wanted to include a picture with today's topic. Every time I thought about sitting down to write my blog it was late at night and the lighting in my house is terrible. I finally remembered this morning so I took a picture. I'm still not happy with the lighting but oh well it's better than nothing.
First let's start off with my bag! If you've never heard of Miche you're missing out! The way Miche works is they sell 4 different size interchangeable bags. Basically after you pick a base bag you get to choose from all different shells and handles. I am currently using the Demi size bag with the Melinda shell and the base bag handles. The contents of my bag doesn't really need explaining so here is a list of everything that was in my bag! Inhaler Gum (That's the white container) Tic Tacs Penny Sticky note with a grocery list from my husband Pen Rosary Tanning Lotion (I got a spray tan last week and bought this to put on before and totally forgot to use it) Gloves Tampon Lipstick Coin Purse (also Miche) Hand Sanitizer (One hooked onto my bag and one actually in my bag) Wallet Chapstick Papers from my Doctor So that's it! Usually I also have my phone and my keys in there but since I'm at home they aren't in there. Also since my Miche bag is new I just cleaned out my purse otherwise it's usually full of junk. Thanks for stopping by! Today's topic for the blog challenge is favorite quotes. I know a lot of people who love quotes and are constantly pinning quotes on pinterest but I'm not really one of those people. Not that I don't like quotes, I'm just not a "quoteaholic" so to speak. I do however find a lot of comfort in scriptures so I will share a few of those with you today!
Today's topic was supposed to be proudest moment however I need to ask the person involved before I post it. I decided to skip that challenge until then. Anyways! Today is now going to be "If I won the lottery…"
It's funny my husband and I actually had this conversation not too long ago. We bought at lottery ticket for the first time and although we knew we weren't going to win it did bring up the conversation. Obviously the first thing we talked about was paying off not only our debts but the debts of our family members. Next I would buy my husband a car so that we wouldn't have to share one anymore! Next would be moving out of our apartment. This place has done us good for the last few years but it's definitely not ideal. I'd love to own a house but that probably won't happen for a few more years. I would for sure donate a lot of money to charity or those around me in need. I am passionate about a lot of things therefore I probably try to spread the money out between different charities instead of donating it all to one place. Lastly I would put most of the money into savings. I have always been a saver and I don't think any amount of money can change that. Another thing I want to mention is that I wouldn't want my life to change too much. Too often you hear about people who come into a lot of money end up worse off. Money doesn't buy happiness and it shouldn't be treated as if it can. I know my answer sounds fairly cliche but it's the truth! I first want to start off by saying I hate the term "crush." Also I was never really the girl who had celebrity crushes. If someone was to ask me right now who my celebrity crush is, I would have no clue what to say. Maybe I'm too much of a realist but I love my husband and I have no desire to put any effort into another male, even a celebrity. I am not saying I don't think there are attractive people out there, I mean I'm not blind. I just don't really care that much. Hopefully that makes sense.
For some reason I am finding this really hard and embarrassing for me and I'm not entirely sure why. Anyways, I would say the closest thing I had to a "celebrity crush" would be my well obsession (yes I said obsession) with Chris Fedun of Jump5. I was raised in a Christian home so for the most part I only heard Christian music. When I was 11 or 12 my sister bought Jump5's first CD. I don't think I was all that crazy about the music but I saw their first music video and was super impressed. The dancing and gymnastic abilities they had were pretty impressive and I'm actually still impressed to this day. When I was 13 I saw them live for the first time and thought it was pretty much the coolest thing ever. I grew up dancing so seeing them dance live was pretty much the coolest thing ever for me. I think that's why Chris was always my favorite (I had the word favorite when it comes to people but I'm just being honest with you all). He was by far the best gymnast and dancer. Anyways I met them after the show and I thought Chris was super nice especially because he took a picture with me. In total I ended up going to 11 of their shows and met them before and after almost every single show. It's been almost 10 years since those shows but that was such a huge part of my childhood. I met some great friends who I still keep in contact with today from going to those shows. Anyways there is my little story! Here are a few pictures from the shows that I found on my computer. I had so many more but I have no clue where they are. I am completely in love with my new hair! I have had it long for such a long time I just needed a change! It was starting to get pretty damaged so cutting all that off has made my hair so much healthier! I ended up cutting off about 10 inches which I donated. It feels incredibly weird having "short" hair! I'm so happy I did it. I didn't tell anyone but my family that I was doing it because I was afraid I would get talked out of it. I'm also in love with the color. I could seriously talk about it all day but I'm sure you're all tired of hearing about it already!
Today's challenge is to discuss my piercings and tattoos. I hate to disappoint you all but this isn't going to be very exciting. I have my ears pierced…..and that's it. I have wanted my nose pierced for awhile but I still haven't gone through with it. I plan to at some point but we'll see. As far as tattoo's go I don't know if i'll end up with one or not. I don't dislike tattoos but I have problems with how permanent they are. I feel like I change my mind way too often to ever get a tattoo that I will like a few years down the road. I know, I haven't been keeping up on my blog challenge. I have been out of town most of the week so I took a little bit of a blog vacation. A big change happened while I was gone! Here's a sneak peak! I will be back daily blogging starting tomorrow! Stay tuned.
