I have decided to start doing a favorites once a month. This month being right after christmas and the month of my birthday I received quite a few new beauty products as gifts and quite a few Ulta gift cards. I decided for this month to stick with beauty products but most months will probably be a variety of things.
1. Solid Lotion- This is the only non-makeup product on the list. In my husbands family we draw names at Christmas. My sister-in-law drew my name and got me lots of goodies. My favorite thing was the solid lotions. I had never heard of them and now I can't get enough! I would recommend these to anyone but especially those who live in areas that get really dry during the winter. I received three different kinds. I have a bar and a stick like the ones pictured above and also one in a deodorant container. That one is probably my favorite because it's great to use on your arms and legs after a shower. You get the benefits of lotion without the mess.
2. Lights, Camera, Lashes! (Tarte)- Typically I am the kind of girls that just buys the cheap drugstore mascara. I was in Ulta last month buying christmas presents when I saw the mini size of this mascara by the checkout. I had remembered my sister saying she heard it had good reviews so I decided to give it a try. This is now my go-to mascara! I had previously been using Too Faced, Better than Sex which I did not dislike, however for me I had trouble with clumping on my brush. I have not experienced any clumping whatsoever with this mascara and would highly recommend it!
3. Gimme Brow (Benefit) - I like to say I have unique eyebrows even if that's not true. I have fairly thin, fine hair yet I have the thickest coarsest eyebrows ever! They cannot be more opposite of the hair on my head. The hair is so coarse that I typically bleed when getting them waxed. Let's not even talk about threading…that was a mistake. Anyways, I received this as a stocking stuffer and it works great! I have used other products on my brows but this is by far my favorite! I love how it gives color and has a brush at the same time. I need that to help tame my crazy eyebrows. The color also matches very well and doesn't make me look like I have been caking product on my eyebrows like I have previously looked.
4. NUDE'tude (the Balm)- Where to begin! This has to be my absolute favorite eye shadow palette of all time! My sister bought this palette about a year ago and ever time I visited her I would borrow it. I have the Naked Basics palette which I had been using religiously since it came out. After getting this palette for Christmas I haven't touched anything else. Not only are the colors perfect in every way, it is the longest lasting eye shadow I've ever worn. While I have to give some credit to Urban Decay's Eye Shadow Primer Potion, it still deserves most of the credit. There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this palette. I have even been using the shadow "Serious" on my lash line instead of eyeliner. If it was possible I would give this palette a 6 out of 5 stars!
5. Butter Lipstick (NYX) - I have never really been a big lipstick girl and still don't consider myself one. However after trying NYX Butter Lipstick I have been wearing it much more frequently. I like these for multiple reasons. For one thing the colors are amazing. I have 5 and love every single one. Ok so one is a litttttle bit too pink for me but for the most part I love them. Anyways, I love that they are called butter because they are super smooth and have that buttery texture. They don't give you that feeling of wearing lipstick like other lipsticks have which I hate. While I don't have a ton of experience with lipstick I do feel that these stay on fairly well. I do have to reapply if I eat but it's not gone within 10 minutes after applying either which I have experienced many times before.
